Emilia

They say love and hate are the same feelings experienced under different circumstances, and it’s true.
The man who comes to me in my dreams also haunts me in my nightmares.
He is a brilliant lawyer.
A skilled criminal.
A beautiful liar.
A bully and a savior, a monster and a lover.
Ten years ago, he made me run away from the small town where we lived. Now, he came for me in New York, and he isn’t leaving until he takes me with him.

Vicious

She is a starving artist.
Pretty and evasive like cherry blossom.
Ten years ago, she barged into my life unannounced and turned everything upside down.
She paid the price.
Emilia LeBlanc is completely off-limits, my best friend’s ex-girlfriend. The woman who knows my darkest secret, and the daughter of the cheap Help we hired to take care of our estate.
That should deter me from chasing her, but it doesn’t.
So she hates me. Big fucking deal.
She better get used to me.

Apologies in advance. This review has cursing and is full of my completely unfiltered thoughts as they popped into my head. You have been warned!

Holy fucking Hot Holes! This book is A-MA-ZING! I never write my reviews immediately after finishing a book because I like to take the time to think it over. I didn’t need to think this one over. At all.

I literally wrote this to my friend, and I think this sums up my thoughts. “I’m seriously wide awake. This book I just finished was asshole, dickface guy at its finest, and I loved him. I wanted to kiss the shit out of him and his mean and dirty mouth.” (If you’re reading this, friend and lover of chocolate croissants (haha!), you know who you are.)

I don’t think it’s hard to see why I loved Vicious. Every time he spoke I was like okay, I need to find me one of this dude. He was such a jerk and made no excuses for it, which is why I liked him so much. And Millie was resigned to the fact that he was a jerk that would never change and accepted it. Underneath it all, she really liked that side of him and shit, I did, too. I loved how tough Millie was and never backed down to Vicious. She had some balls on her and it was great to see that with a female lead because the women in romance novels are often pushovers.

As far as Vicious is concerned, I wanted to slap, kiss, and fuck him and most of the time in that order. My God he was hot! I always like guys like him in real life because it’s fun to watch men like that cower and chase after you. There were some parts that had me laughing so hard because I could completely relate to Millie. Dealing with an asshole is not for the faint of heart, and a guy like Vicious is not easy to manage. But you have to stand your ground with them, and so I could see some glimmers of myself in Millie, and that made this book even more enjoyable for me. I kept thinking of my ex and me and was like this is hilarious. Too bad he wasn’t rich. Bahaha! That would’ve made him less annoying.

The Hot Holes are HOT! Yes, that name is perfect for them. So perfect. They are rich and hot and the guys that every girl at their high school wanted to date. The story flips between the POVs of Vicious, aka Baron, (barf!) and Emilia, aka Millie. I’m so glad he goes by a nickname because I would not be fangirl swooning over anyone named Baron. Ever. Vicious was one of the cool kids at his high school along with his friends Jaime, Dean, and Trent who are known as the Hot Holes. I think it goes without saying they’re hot assholes. And boy did they meet the criteria. These guys just oozed sex and made me want more of this series.

The chemistry between Millie and Vicious was off-the-charts and the sex scenes were like 5 alarm fire hot! I loved how Shen was able to take such an unlikable character and have me obsessively wanting him and loving him all at the same time. There’s so much depth to this story since it’s told in alternating POVs and flips between the present and ten years earlier. I like how Shen shows us how Millie and Vicious met and what led to him torturing her and ruining her life for so many years. His reasoning for doing it made me want to punch him in the face, but that’s how I felt about him most of the time between wanting to make out with him.

I think it’s obvious that I highly recommend this book. If I could give it more than 5 stars, I would. Read this book! Go! Now! It’s on Kindle Unlimited.

  1. You are sooo right, Baron is not ok, Vicious is what we want.. I love his attitude too! I loved the blurb already, and reading your review next.. it really sounds all kinds of amazing !! I kind of love off-limits kind of books too (I can relate ;-)) so I’m just going to add it to my wishlist.

  2. Just cracked up at “Too bad he wasn’t rich, that would have made him less annoying” hahahah! Oh girl, I think we fan girled over this book more than any other one! Vicious is just so hot and such a jerk that it makes you want to slap him and then jump his bones! Ugh, I loved him and Millie. I love all your cursing and love for this book in your review lol because the feelings are so freaking true! Can’t wait for the next one!! 🙂

    1. Bahaha! Girl, you know me. Ain’t nobody got time for that. But if he had Vicious’ money, I could’ve found him less annoying. Lol Yeah, Vicious is my boo. I’m all about that attitude. My cursing and love. Ha! This is one of my more vulgar reviews, but I thought it was appropriate since we’re talking about Vicious. I’m dying for Dean’s book. Give it to me now! Leigh posted a teaser of the next book in her reading group on Facebook. You should join so we can fangirl together. 🙂

        1. Leigh’s reader group is called LJs Sassy Sparrows. I’m a member. She released the first teaser yesterday. Give that book to me right NOW! Haha! I have a feeling it’s going to end with Rosie dying because her illness is terminal and then I’m going to die from the worst heartbreak ever. 😂 It will be worse than the gross crying I did with TFIOS and I don’t cry from books.
